DENTAL BRIDGES

Missing teeth can cause a loss of confidence, as well as problems with eating and speaking. Here at Precision Dental, we want to restore the functionality of your teeth and bring the confidence back to your smile. That’s why we offer the highest quality dental bridges as part of a treatment plan that’s tailored to you.

Dental Bridges

WHAT IS A DENTAL BRIDGE?

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth, using the surrounding natural teeth for support.

Just as we do with dental crowns, we match bridges to the colour of your natural smile, so nobody will know you’ve had dental work done.

HOW DO DENTAL BRIDGES WORK?

Bridges literally ‘bridge’ the gap left by a missing tooth. They are made up of two crowns that sit on top of the teeth neighbouring the gap, and a replacement tooth (you might hear us call this a ‘pontic’) to fill the gap itself.

Our dental bridges are made from porcelain, metal or a combination of both. The choice is up to you.

TYPES OF DENTAL BRIDGE

There are four main types of dental bridge – traditional, Maryland, cantilever and implant-supported.

TRADITIONAL BRIDGES

These are the most popular type of dental bridge. Traditional bridges are made up of two crowns on either side of a pontic. The crowns fit comfortably on top of your natural teeth to keep the bridge firmly in place.

MARYLAND BRIDGES

Maryland bridges also use two natural teeth to secure the bridge in place and are a great solution for a gap between two teeth. But rather than using crowns, this method uses a porcelain or metal framework that we gently bond to the back of your teeth.

CANTILEVER BRIDGES

This type of bridge is similar to a Maryland bridge, except that in this case you only need one natural tooth next to the missing tooth gap. If you choose this type of bridge, we will bond the crown to one abutment tooth to keep it securely in place.

IMPLANT-SUPPORTED BRIDGES

As you might guess from the name, these bridges are anchored in using a dental implant. We usually place one implant per missing tooth. The implant acts as a root for the replacement tooth so that it feels just like the real thing.

I had Invisalign here around 4 years ago and it was the best decision of my life. Mr Ball is a fantastic dentist and I couldn’t thank them enough for giving me the smile of my dreams! I would recommend them to everybody
