We are delighted to announce that we are now able to offer Skin Rejuvenation Treatments at Precision Dental.
For a full list of treatments and prices please see our dedicated Facial Aesthetics & Skin Rejuvenation page.
Beauty Treatments by Dentists?
Dentists are well placed to offer these treatments as they have an excellent understanding of the facial anatomy and proportions having studied it in detail for many years. The dental practice environment is also a good setting to receive this type of care due to the clinical environment and decontamination assurances that we are able to provide. Add in a super support team and good follow up and we know you will be delighted with your skin care suggestions.
What Skin Rejuvenations do you offer?
At present we offer two types of treatment, wrinkle smoothing and wrinkle plumping or dermal/lip fillers.
Our wrinkle smoothing treatments concentrate on three areas
Crows feet (wrinkles next to the eyes)
Frown lines (wrinkles in between the eyebrows)
What happens after treatment?
You can carry on with your day as normal immediately after leaving Precision Dental, although it’s important to avoid anything strenuous for 24 hours such as going to the gym. Side effects are rare, but occasionally some clients experience bruising, this usually fades quickly.
Effects can be seen as early as 2-3 days after the treatment and the results are seen best after 2 weeks. Before you leave Precision Dental at the end of your treatment, we will book you in for a review 2 weeks later, so that we can ensure your satisfaction with the results of your treatment once it has taken full effect.
The results will last around three months after which time they can be repeated.
What are Dermal/Lip Fillers?
They are injectable gel syringes containing Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in skin and is a constituent of collagen. As we age our body produces less of it, and as a result of this, our skin begins to appear thinner and line/wrinkles form.
When injected beneath the skin, Hyaluronic acid acts like a sponge and retains large quantities of water to keep the skin looking plump and soft – hiding the undesirable signs of ageing!
Where do we use Fillers?
Fillers can be used to fix a variety of concerns related to facial ageing and is also useful for facial enhancement. Sites that can be treated include:
Plumping the lips and smoothing out vertical lines around the edges of the lips.
Adding definition to the border of the lips creating a more desirable shape, as well as many more applications!
Adding volume and smoothing out the deep creases that run from the nose to the mouth (called nasolabial folds or laugh lines) and also the lines from the corner of the lips down to the chin (marionette lines).
How long will Dermal Fillers last?
The effects of Dermal Fillers gradually fade, but will last on average between 4-12 months, depending on the treatment area.
When you start to notice the effects of your fillers wearing-off you can arrange for another appointment so that we can keep you looking your best.
Should you choose not to continue with dermal fillers, the gel will biodegrade in the skin and simply disappear without a trace!
When to get Dermal Fillers?
There’s every reason to consider dermal fillers to enhance flat or thin lips in the younger patient, or to correct signs of ageing that are beyond what skincare products can do. Without question, fillers can help improve the appearance of deep lines and give skin a more supple, youthful appearance in ways that skincare simply cannot.
Is it painful to have the treatment?
Prior to your dermal filler treatment, a mild anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area for your comfort. Some of our fillers contain Lidocaine anaesthetic and do not require an additional anaesthetic prior to treatment. By taking these measures, we can make the treatment practically pain free!
For cases of lip fillers, we can completely numb the area using the same anaesthetic that we use for dental treatment, meaning that there is no discomfort whatsoever during the filler treatment.
Following treatment with Dermal Fillers
A dermal filler treatment can be very quick and effective and have a minimal impact on your time. It takes 20-40 minutes depending on the number of lines and wrinkles treated.
Make-up can be applied immediately after a dermal filler treatment and you can go straight back to your daily routine. It is common to have some redness and swelling following the treatment, although this usually resolves after a few hours and 80% the results can be seen instantly. The final 20% is seen in the days following treatment, as the area hydrates further
