I don’t know about you, but whenever the word braces was mentioned when I was younger, the image of “Ugly Betty” used to pop into my head. You know the one, the young lady with the metal train track braces fixed to her teeth which created a very unsightly appearance (even if they got the job done eventually).
Well nowadays, technology has really moved on and we have many cosmetic techniques at our disposal to straighten teeth for people of all ages (my latest new Teeth Straightening patient last week is aged 68). One of the most invisible teeth straightening systems we use here in the Sheffield and Rotherham area is Invisalign. The great advantage of Invisalign is that the braces are completely clear (see the photo below) so that it is really difficult to spot them, even from close up.
The other great thing about the clear aligners is that they can be removed whilst eating which means that they are extremely hygienic and easy to keep clean resulting in excellent gum health during the teeth straightening treatment, which generally takes between 8-14 months on average.
The teeth movements are very precisely controlled throughout and a computer simulation (Clincheck) of the end result drives each stage of the process resulting in predictable results every time. Below is an example of a Clincheck of one of my recent cases – click play to watch the way the teeth are moved into alignment.
Just to prove that the process does actually deliver, below are the before and after photos of the case presented above – the treatment time was 13 months from start to finish and I think you will agree, the result is fantastic.
So if you live in the Sheffield or Rotherham areas and the idea of having straight white teeth appeals to you, but the prospect of fixed metal braces doesn’t, Invisalign Clear Braces may well be the solution you are looking for.
