I often get asked why I wanted to become a Dentist and the answer I give is loosely based on a TV series in the 1970s called “Butterflies” where one of the main characters played by Geoffrey Palmer is a dentist and seemed to be relatively happy with his life!
The reality of being a Rotherham Dentist has changed over my 27 year career but it has definitely changed for the better. We now have better materials, better equipment, better postgraduate training pathways and, despite all the doom and gloom merchants, better regulation over safety and clinical methods.
We have now added a new Dentist in Rotherham to our team, Dr Joe Norris and our team has grown with the addition of new Dental Nurses and a Practice Manager. This has allowed the Practice to add extra services such as Dental Implants or Facial Aesthetic Treatments to our range and our long-term goal will be to be able offer all treatments, including Specialists, under one roof for our patients in Rotherham.
General Dentistry in Rotherham
The advantage of having been a General Dentist at the same Dental Practice in Rotherham for over 20 years now is that I get the opportunity to see work that I did when I first started and measure its performance and audit the success rates. This is done as part of the regulatory process by the Care Quality Commission and as an example, my 10 year success rates for endodontic treatments (root canals) is over 90% which is considerable higher than the national average.
So what is next for Precision Dental in Rotherham?
Early next year, we will be introducing Digital Dentistry into our restorative and orthodontic treatments. This will involve the use of digital impressions from an intra-oral scanner to replace the traditional mouthful of messy impression materials. This will improve the patient journey because let’s be honest, no-one likes a mouthful of that stuff, but it will also improve the accuracy of models created from the digital impressions. This will lead to better treatment outcomes and increased patient satisfaction! Watch this space!!
Until next time…
